Art on the Square is one of the nation’s top juried fine arts festivals presenting the work of approximately 100 artists which takes place on the Public Square in Belleville, IL in the greater St. Louis metropolitan area. The festival is held annually in downtown Belleville the weekend after Mother’s Day.
Hosted by the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce, the Annual Chili Cook-off has featured the culinary creations of individuals, local organizations, and area businesses for more than 39 years! What started with just a few vendors on one block of East Main Street in downtown Belleville has now grown to more than 60 vendors and is one of the largest festivals in Belleville!
An open-air German Christmas Market on Belleville’s Public Square, featuring unique vendors, food, and beverages, along with live entertainment and special attractions on specific dates.
The Belleville Main Street Marathon and Half Marathon is a grass-roots non-profit event organized by volunteers from the Belleville Running Club and Toolen’s Running Start to shine a positive light on our community and encourage the sport of running. Most of the proceeds are donated to the Belleville Parks and Recreation Department to enhance local recreational opportunities. The Full Marathon course is Boston Marathon Qualifying.
The Belleville Oktoberfest is an annual festival celebrating German heritage on the city’s Downtown Square. The upcoming 44th annual event will take place on September 19-21, 2025. The event raises funds for local organizations, including Belleville Sister Cities, the Ainad Shriners of Southern Illinois, and Belleville Firefighter Local #53.
